Enhanced 911 (E911)
Enhanced 911 (E911) is a computer-based system that allows emergency services to identify the telephone number and address of a caller who is experiencing an emergency and to relay this information to the appropriate public safety answering points (PSAPs). This service is not a substitute for Caller ID, which only displays the calling number. Instead, E911 adds additional information like location, which helps emergency responders locate you more quickly.
