Latency

Latency is a factor that contributes to the time it takes for one party of interest to acknowledge receipt of data from another party. Latency is measured in milliseconds—1/1000th of a second. In real terms, Latency is the time that passes between the instant an event occurs and the instant an acknowledgment or reaction is made.
