What is SNMP? Simple Network Management Protocol is the de facto standard protocol to manage devices on the Internet that have IP addresses. Using SNMP you can view and change variables such as interface counters, bandwidth usage, and CPU temperature from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. This is typically done by using a network management station (NMS) that communicates with several network router devices via telnet or SSH.
